0:00This has been one of the craziest weeks for model drops so far this year.
0:05Moonshot dropped Kimmy K 3.1 model weights today. A decision model kind of like Jev is open-source open weights.
0:13You can get it right now. Northka is an open weights model that is frontier at computer use. We have new image models.
0:21We have a science model that could actually write notebooks. The community fine-tuned Quinn 3.5 to be excellent at coding and only four billion parameters.
0:32PA dropped a new video model and it is so good. Let's get into all of them. All right, so our first story is Moonshot dropped the weights of Kimmy K3.1 Pro. This is an actual frontier model.
0:46Maybe not to the level of the absolute frontier from the closed source labs like Anthropic and Open AAI, but it's basically a half step behind them and completely open- source and open weights. They promised they were going to do it and now it's here. You can grab the model weights from HuggingFace right now. But it's not a small model and most likely you're not going to be able to run it locally. So you'll have to get it from one of the inference providers of your choice. All right. So right here you can see that there are 96 parts to
1:16this model each of which is around 17 GB. So it is a very big model but again this is the absolute frontier and once the community gets a hold of it they will be able to start creating quantized versions that you could potentially put on your local machine and it is very exciting. So if you want to run this model you probably need at least 1.2 2 terab of VRAM. That is a ton. And as a
1:45reminder, Kim K 3.1 Pro is a 3 trillion parameter model. And I believe the absolute frontier like Astra and Fable are closing in on 10 trillion. So about a little less than half the size of those, but still a very massive model, especially for getting open weights now.
2:03And here are some of the benchmarks. And you can see on Terminal Bench, it beats Astra. It's right below Opus 5.5 which is the current best model on the planet.
2:13We have Agents Last Exam where it scores number one beating out Opus Astra all the others. We have Bench CAD which tests its ability to create CAD files and yes it is quite good falling behind Opus 5.5 and Astra. OS World is computer use it is number three behind Fable and Opus. GDP val which is open AAI's internal model on actual real world knowledge work. It scores number two on
2:40the ELO score right behind Opus 5.5. So, this is a phenomenal model and we're going to get quantized versions very soon. So, I'm very excited about that.
2:50Go check it out. I'm going to drop the hugging face link down below if you want it. All right. Next, we have a model called North Ka and it is a mediumsiz computer use model. It is 397 billion total parameters, 17 billion active parameters, which means it's a mixture of experts model and it is extremely good at computer control. They also have two other versions of this model family.
3:15North Koola Mini which is 35 billion total parameters and North Ka Nano which is 9 billion total parameters. They also have their own custom harness that you can run this model within and it is open source as well and I'll drop this down below. So this is North Ka's harness and it is by Beo AI. So on OSWorld Verified, which is a legit computer control benchmark, we have the Nano coming in at 78.9, the Mini at 85, and the Pro at 88.
3:44Now, the delta between the Nano and the Pro is only 10 points. So, and you can run the 9 billion parameter model on most hardware, maybe even a phone. So, it's kind of interesting. And then we have We Arena Verified. same thing like really close scores between Nano and Pro, but these are very strong frontier grade scores. And so how it works within the harness is for the desktop agent, it's basically taking screenshots. It's observing what it's looking at, thinking, then acting, and it kind of
4:14goes through that loop over and over again. And if you want to get this set up, this hugging face page has all the instructions. Also, it links to the harness, so it should be pretty straightforward to get set up. And of course, you can literally just copy the link, give it to your agent, and say, "Set this up for me." So, go try it out.
4:33Very impressive model. All right. Next, seemingly everybody is building on top of MiniAX H3, which is a video model.
4:41But this company, Pruna AI, made Miniax H3 into an image model. So, today we open source PH3 image and image generation and editing model built from Miniax H3. And so they took the video model and made it into a state-of-the-art image model. And it is all about efficiency and speed. So how efficient is it? Generate or edit images five times faster in eight steps instead of 50. So a 4 megapixel image takes 2.6
5:10seconds instead of 12.4 seconds. The model is seven times smaller than H3. So high resolution images are a light download and run on a much smaller GPU.
5:20And here are its strengths. It is strongest at photo realism, documentary and editorial photography, film stills and graphic styles with short quoted text. So they released the entire tech report on their blog. They also give a few examples. Let me show you. So on the left we see Quinn image 2.1 with the prompt an old fisherman at sunrise. I actually think this looks pretty good now with the image upsampler from PH3.
5:46This is what it looks like now. Much more photorealistic. Next, we have a robot gardener anime style. And this looks pretty good, but I will say this one looks much better. It is much more in the style of anime, at least the way I understand it, and it is a much smaller model than the Miniax original version. So, you can see the Miniax H3 is at 143 GB. PH3 image at BF16 is 55
6:15GB. At int 8, it is 30 GB. and so on.
6:20So, here are a few examples versus Miniax. You can see right here, Miniax H3 at 50 steps. These three images, we have kind of uh some aliens sitting with some humans out in space. And then the PH3 image in eight steps looks very good. I would say almost identical. Same thing with the next image. I mean, these images look nearly identical and it took far fewer steps and was much more efficient. Same with the last image. And it is extremely good at handwritten
6:50images. I mean, look how good this is.
6:52So, this is obviously a recipe that looks very handwritten. We even have what looks to be a coffee stain in the bottom right. We have multiple types of writing. This is pencil. We have ink right here. We can see some mistakes.
7:07And I think this just looks beautiful.
7:10They have the weights open on hugging face. I'll drop a link down below so you can go download it. Next, we have a decision model that is open weights and open- source. They are really good at general decision-making. If you remember Jev, Jev is incredible. You can give it a thousand decisions to make and it can do so in like 3 seconds. And so, we now have an open source open weights version of that called Prism. So, Sarvam Prism is a decision model built on Sarvam 105B. You give a context and one or more
7:40questions each with a fixed set of possible answers. It returns a probability for every answer in a single forward pass. It does not generate text.
7:48So similar to Jeb, it is a decision model, not a text generation model. So don't expect that. So the answer is always one of your options. It does recommend using a B200 or H200, which are not necessarily consumer grade chips, but you might be able to get this running on a pretty beefy consumer grade piece of hardware. And you're going to need 106 GB of disc space for the weights. Again, if you want to get this installed and running, they give you all
8:16of the steps right here on the hugging face page, but go ahead and just give it to your agent and say, "Set it up for me." Next from MIT, we have Hydrogen 1.0. This is a model specifically built for scientific discovery. They post-trained GLM 5.3. So that's an open-source open weights model from a Chinese lab and made it really good at scientific discovery. So here are some of the stats. This is Frontier Science Research. This is the benchmark
8:44obviously testing how good it is at Frontier Science. And here's GLM 5.3, Kimmy K3. Here's GPT6 Astra Max all the way up here. And this is beautiful. It beats all of them and is less expensive than almost all of them with the exception of GLM 5.3. So on Frontier Science, it scores a 38.33% and it is 25 cents per problem versus Astra which is 88 cents per problem. So
9:14here's an example of what it can do.
9:16Simulate a polyethylene melt and let's see what that looks like. So it's actually zooming into the molecules. It is rendering the molecules in 3D space of which you can rotate it in 3D space which is amazing. It's writing the code for this. Let's keep going. So you can see it's actually writing the code to simulate polyethylene melting in 3D space at the molecular level. Very very cool. Very impressive. And here it is. I
9:45didn't know that's what it looked like.
9:46All right. So we have density RDF radius of girration end to end distance. So you can download the weights yourself through hugging face and you can use it through an API if you don't want to run it yourself through neurospark. So go check that out. Very cool. All right.
10:02And Perplexity is next. They just dropped an open weights embedding model.
10:07So, shout out to Perplexity for continuing to contribute to the open- source community, introducing Perplexity Embed V2 context, openweight vision language embedding models in a 9 billion parameter version and a 600 million parameter version. They dropped a paper with it, although I'm not going to go over that now. If you want to see that, I'll drop a link down below. And so this is a state-of-the-art vision language embedding model specifically for
10:34retrieval over text, images, and visual documents like PDFs. And so this model is really good basically at just finding things, finding text, finding images and a document. And yes, it's open- source open weights. This is definitely a model that you can run locally on your computer. And speaking of small models, we have a really small, really capable coding model. This is Quen 3.54B.
11:01This is a 4 billion parameter model that is really good at 3D coding. So specifically, it generates standalone 3JS HTML JavaScript scenes with GB export and it's good for editors such as Go dot. So here's an example. You can see this 3D scene. And again, this was created by a very small model. And I really like having all of these small model variations that we can run incredibly fast locally if you really
11:30want to, but very specialized models for specific use cases. Here are a few other examples of things that it created.
11:38Here's Jungle Siege platform. Here is a weathered snow siege platform. So, if you're creating games, if you're an indie developer, this might be a good model to create some of your 3D assets for you. And shout out to all the current YouTube members watching, I just want to give you a special thanks. And I wanted to let you all know that we have launched Frontier Pass. It gives behindthe-scenes footage, early access to interviews, full access to our original articles on forwardfuture.com,
12:06and if you're already a member of the YouTube channel, it's completely free.
12:10So, come join us in Slack. become a member on YouTube. Go claim your Frontier Pass. And thank you to all the current members. All right. Next, we have possibly the best texttovideo model that I have ever used. Yes, once again, this is trained on Miniax H3, but it is faster and better overall. And I've actually been using this locally quite a bit. This is from Pabs. This is Pika H3 Flex. Debuting today as the
12:38number one openweight model on Design Arena's texttovideo board built for professional iteration with exportable audio stems, resolutions up to 4K, faster than real-time generation. So, if you wanted to create a Twitch stream and just have it constantly generate video, you can do that now. Very cool. So, it can produce a 15-second clip with a soundtrack in as little as 7 seconds.
13:02And it's very inexpensive. The price starts at one penny per second. So, for a 60-second video, you're paying60.
13:12That's it. That is very inexpensive for video generation. So, here are a few examples. Here are two players playing pingpong in a pool. One of them is a frog. Here's another one. Lots of camera movement, lots of zooms, pans. So, very good at editor control. Here are some of the prices if you wanted to use it through the API, but again, you could probably get this model running locally if you have a high-end graphics card.
13:38So, here's the intro video. You can see lots of camera movement, lots of realism. The hair looks beautiful. What it's showing here is you can actually give it multiple assets to base the video on. So, here's 1 2 3 4 five different images and a wave file, thunderstorm.wave. And it puts it all together in this beautiful video just like that with plenty of camera movement. And you can continue to edit it as well. So drop images, drop textures, patterns, whatever you want.
14:07Instantly change one part of the video.
14:10Very impressive. So go check out Pika.
14:12Go check out this model. I've been using it like crazy locally, which is really nice. And I'll drop a link down below for you. Next from service now, which I definitely wasn't expecting, we have an open- source open weights model that is really good at understanding voice and converting that into real world tasks.
14:30So this is APL voice 27B. So a relatively small model. This is one that you can definitely run on most local machines and it is a voice AI model built to get work done. So this model can actually take in text, images, and voice all in one. and it combines them and is able to take action based on what it understands you're trying to get done. So you can see speech, text, images, it has a speech encoder. It has token embeddings, frozen visual
15:00interface, all piped into the mixture of experts backbone and then it decides what to do and can actually do text to speech as well. For its size, it does score very well on the benchmarks and then also adding in the fact that it is very voice first. It's a very nice model. So go try it out. link down below. All right, next we have another diffusion text model. That means you can expect insane speed. This is from diffuse space AI. This is called Clover.
15:27It is a 35 billion parameter model, 3 billion active parameters, so it's a mixture of experts and it scores strongly against models of similar size.
15:37But again, this is a diffusion model, so we should expect it to run insanely fast. Here you can see all the scores.
15:44And just to show you how fast it is, let me show you this prompt. I am at CMU Pittsburgh. How long it takes to drive to the nearest Wendy's. So, here we go.
15:53You can just see how fast it is operating this computer. After 169 seconds, it is done. And Quen 3.6 Flash continues and continues and continues.
16:04In total, it took 28 steps. And at the end, Quen 3.6 Flash reached its 30step limit, 578 seconds, and did not even complete. So you can see very fast and yep once again open source open ways link down below. And next we have a new version of a liquid foundation model. I love all of these different new architectures outside of auto reggressive language models. So this is LFM3 from liquid AI our new generation
16:33of liquid foundation models and it is built for ondevice deployment. These are very small models. It lets LFM3 1.7B outperform the previous 2.5 version of 2.6 billion parameters with 35 fewer parameters. And it fits in about 1 GBTE at 4bit precision. So really any device including your phone. And you can see it is at the paro frontier across and
17:00compared to all models of its class and size. It powers local agents with a 256k token context window and you can fine-tune it on a single GPU yourself.
17:12And what's really cool is it also understands video, text, spatial awareness, and it has step-by-step reasoning all built into this hyperfast model. This is a seriously impressive little model, and it can basically do anything like voice and video and yeah, so very impressive. Go download it right now. Next from Bite Research, we have an OCR model. That is a model that can read documents really well, specifically
17:41image-based documents. So, not text. OCR means it is reading from images, text from images, and understanding images really well. So, introducing unlimited OCR 2, now open source, no page limits, no growing attention costs. It parses documents of virtually unlimited length in one go, maintaining high accuracy and efficiency as they go. They tested it on 5,000page documents and it held up just fine. It performs very well on most of these OCR benchmarks and you can
18:09download it today. I tested it myself and yes, it was very impressive. All right, and last a model that I didn't cover. I feel like I should have, but a new model from OpenAI and possibly one of the best value models on the planet.
18:24We have GPT 6.1 Terra. the only non-opensource openw weightights model in this video, but it is worth talking about because apparently it is incredibly capable. Alex and Brian from my team both told me it is very good at video editing. So, we have it right here and it is inexpensive to say the least.
18:43So, compared to GPT 5.6 Terra, the previous version, it is 50% lower standard API prices and it's also more capable. Here it is on the paro curve.
18:53This is agents last exam. Right here we have GPT 6.1 Terra coming in almost at zero which is hilarious. Here's GPT6 Luna which is the only one that is less expensive overall. But you can see Terra for basically the same price at the lowest thinking budget. You're getting a substantial improvement in intelligence.
19:15Here you can see Astra over here. And what's crazy is that Astra at the highest thinking budget also scored similarly to Terra at the highest thinking budget, but Terra is a fraction of the price. So this is a very economical model. And if you're looking at running massive workflows using up massive tokens, this is a great model to check out. And it is very fast. Listen to this. It even matches GPT6 Astra at
19:43onetenth the price per token and finishes tasks over three times faster on average than both Astra and GPT6.1 sold. Super impressive. Go try this out.
